Diana: Appreciating Transformative Power

What did you want to see reflected in your custom CED piece?

I am a photographer and love clean, minimal designs. When I talked to Claudia, I had already seen the style of ring design I liked on her site but of course, wanted it customized to me. I told her I wanted my ring to look like a camera, but only an interpretation, a hint, a feeling, not a literal design. And when people look at my gorgeous ring, they say it looks like a camera. So it is really perfect for me.

What was going on in your life that prompted you to need this reminder?

Actually, my mother had just passed away a few months before I met with Claudia and I had inherited one of her diamond rings. The stone was a nice 1 carat but it was in a very plain setting. I wanted to elevate it to make it my own so it would be part of her, and part of me.

Why did you choose this design and how does it make you feel when you wear it?

I chose this style because it was contemporary, unusual, and minimal yet it has a big impact. People notice this ring. It makes me happy every time I look at it, not because it reminds me of a camera, not because it reminds me of my mother, but because it is simply the most beautiful ring I have ever seen and I am honored to be wearing it at this point in my life.

How has this reflection piece helped you?

I appreciate its beauty and I appreciate the transformative power of repurposing the plain diamond to a contemporary piece of art.

What’s your motto for life and why?

My partner says my motto is,

“Can I just do what I want?”

LOL. Probably true. OK, definitely true.
