Gone on Holiday

So many countries close their shops to take a holiday. The US is one of the few countries so bent on productivity, we often times forget to enjoy the spoils of our toils.

Well, enough of that! Ren and I are gone on holiday! I’m changing my pace and investing the time to see the world. I’m eager to step out into a different environment and bring my senses alive with all the textures, flavors, and people watching of other countries. I think this time will replenish my inspiration, refresh my creativity, bring me back to center, and ultimately, restore my focus.

Even though it has been a long time since I’ve taken a proper vacation, I’ve always thought it of great importance to take a mental health day here and there. Or even a few days. While you may not be in a position to take a true holiday at the moment, maybe just travel outside your own door for an afternoon. Create your own personal holiday!

Do you want to soak up a few rays of summer sun at the beach or go for a picnic and a movie in the park?  Load up the car and drive up to the mountains?  Wherever you are, take a breath.  Take a moment, take an afternoon, take the day. I forget this sometimes. Once when I was feeling particularly stuck, my friend told me,  “You have to give yourself permission.” Do you give yourself permission for a much needed holiday to restore your inspiration?

If you did, then share with me, where did you find inspiration? Around the globe? Or in your backyard?
