I Love You
This day is about more than treats and gifts. It’s about genuine connection and intimacy. It’s about sharing love.
When was the last time you said, “I love you,” to someone? Actually, when was the last time you looked in the mirror and said, “I love you” to the person staring back at you? How does it feel when someone tells you they love you? So often, we say the words, but don’t feel them, or don’t let them in. Love is a gift whether it’s romantic, familial, or platonic. And it’s especially powerful when you give it to yourself.
I recently had a client with a vision for a custom piece she wanted to make for herself. She wanted to create a necklace using the wedding rings from her parents and aunt, who have all passed away, as links in the chain. We included her yellow gold baby ring and her own repurposed baroque pearl pendant as a reflection of her in this piece, too. Instead of melting the metal down, we left the wedding rings intact to express her desire to have a partner in a loving marriage. Love was the catalyst to weave together history and intention in this very unique one-of-a-kind necklace.
Today is an invitation to do the things you love, or spend time with people who make you feel loving and loved you love. Write a love letter to yourself and open it next Valentine’s Day. Write a love letter to your partner telling them what you love about them. Send flowers to a friend. Send them to yourself!
I’ll be treating myself to one of my favorite indulgences – a nice, long bubble bath.
I hope you can feel my heart reaching out to yours, whispering, I love you.
How can you share love today?
