How I Celebrate Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice Citrine Vitrine

I love welcoming the arrival of summer. Today on the Solstice, when our Blue Planet is tilted closest to the Sun, we mark the longest – or as I like to think of it, the brightest – day of the year.

To celebrate, here are a few of my favorite things to do and ways to enjoy the season of play and sunny adventures…

Summer Gold Jewelry

The first thing I do is put on one of my designs that embodies the warmth of summer as a symbolic way to carry the golden vibes of the season with me.

Beach Days

Beach days are a favorite in our household, even if we have to bundle up for a few weeks because of California’s June Gloom. When the fog lifts, I treasure the feeling of the sunkist sand warming my feet as I take in the magical, briny beauty of the ocean.

Chilled Rose

Making the switch from red wines to a nicely chilled rosé.

Pool Days

Pool parties and swimming in the ocean. Letting water rush over my skin, the feeling of being submerged and floating always buoys my spirit.

Grilling Burgers

Cooking outdoors is such a delight and always conjures up my childhood memories. I love gathering with my friends and their kids to enjoy some BBQ and tell stories together as the warm summer evenings give way to the stars.

Summer fruit in salads

Tasting the delights of summer by adding fruit to my salads. Strawberries with goat cheese. Stone fruits with mint and snap peas. Fresh basil pesto and vine ripened heirloom tomatoes.

Hollywood Bowl

Going to the Hollywood Bowl with a cozy blanket and picnic basket to hear some classical music with friends.

Working at the bench

And, as the working season slows down a bit for me, playing at the bench to bring some of my sketches to fruition.

I hope you make time for more play this summer.

Why wait for a once-a-year vacation when each day is an opportunity to explore what brings you joy?!

xoxo
