Power Through Self-Care
We all know the importance of self-care, but do we truly believe in it? To believe something is to be transformed by it.
I get so caught up in busyness because it feels productive to take care of everyone and everything else. And when I can’t do it all or don’t do it well, I feel so frustrated with myself. With my perceived failure.
For years, I’ve watched the women in my life lean into the fallacy that to take care of ourselves first is selfish, weak even. But that mindset is so depleting and unbelievably backwards. I know I’m a better partner, better friend, better human when I take care of myself – not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I have to fill up my tank to have something to give.
I released a collection a few years ago that I called the Power Series. It’s a symbolic design inspired by the idea of looking inward, the notion that what a person needs is already inside of them. For me, it is the voice that guides me towards hearing what I need, when I need it. In these pieces the stone is set uncharacteristically deep within the domed core, not immediately visible. The intense sparkle reflects on the mirrored walls around it, revealing rays of light, amplifying the scintillation. I put it on when I need the reminder to be present with myself.
It’s not just rejuvenating to take care of my needs, it’s also empowering. My inner light shines brighter. I experience a radical transformation in what feels possible. I want all women to experience this – to give themselves the permission to love and care for themselves, to reach into their inner power and knowing.
I hope this Women’s Day we love ourselves unapologetically, and that we celebrate the power, strength, and light of all the incredible women in our lives. May we lift each other up, and reflect for each other the power we each hold.
